Wash your hands often: simple and effective way to stop the spread of any infection
Get your sleep: rest can boost your immune system and lower stress levels
Stay hydrated: for every caffeinated or alcoholic drink, have a glass of water
Stay active: movement boosts energy, reduces depression and is a way to spend quality time with loved ones
Healthy eating: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and proteins
Treat yourself: do something that will help you manage your stress and emotions

March 21, 2020 - Pandemic by Lynn Ungar
We invite you to spend some time with this poem.
What words or phrases jump out to you?
Where might there be invitation for you in these moments of 'being' versus doing?
What if you thought of it
as the Jews consider the Sabbath –
the most sacred of times?
Cease from travel.
Cease from buying and selling.
Give up, just for now,
on trying to make the world
different than it is.
Sing. Pray. Touch only those
to whom you commit your life.
And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives
are in one another’s hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
Reach out your heart.
Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils
of compassion that move, invisibly,
where we cannot touch.
Promise this world your love –

March 20, 2020 - Some Words from Our Founder...
What a difference a couple of weeks makes. We are now living in an unprecedented time – one that includes the word “pandemic”, one that may have us, consciously or unconsciously, looking at those around us wondering if they are infected, one that creates fear when we have a cough or chills, and one that sees grocery store shelves stripped bare leaving us wonder if there will be “enough”. On top of that, some of us have children at home trying to understand what is happening to their little world. It is stressful!
What can help with the stress, the fear? There is plenty of advice for staying physically healthy, but what about your emotional and spiritual health? First,
stay present. Don’t live into the future because if this pandemic has taught us anything it is that the future is completely unpredictable. All the “what ifs” are not helpful. If our worst fears do not happen, we have already lived them in our mind and science now tells us whatever we imagine, good or bad, can impact us as if it really happened. And – if it does happen – you’ve lived it twice (credit to Michael J Fox for that). Not helpful in any way.
Keep yourself grounded in the present. Go back to the basics:
~ Make some time to be in your sacred space. Pull apart, even if it means you need to get up before the kiddos. Center yourself. Be in solitude and silence for some time to ground yourself before the activities of the day begin.
~ Practice breath prayer. Use a breath prayer that uniquely helps you center.
~ Grab that journal. If you haven’t journaled in a while, now may be the time to pull it out. Write about what you are feeling, thinking and concerned about. Get it out on paper. We are living through a truly unique time and not only is there a need to process what you are feeling – it may be good to have a record of what it was like to go through all of this.
~ Revisit your sacred pathways. What makes you feel closest to God? If it’s nature, get outside in your own yard and be with the trees and the emerging flowers (thank goodness spring is here!). If you’re a sensate, light your candles and snuggle with your blanket. If intellect is what works for you, start reading a few of those books you haven’t had the time to read. You know the drill.
~ And finally, at least for this message, remember who holds it all together. We are not alone – we are held by a Being who loves us more than we could ever imagine and who is inviting us to lean into what we know is true – Love has this…Love has us…Love has you.
